Stigma AIDS stigma and discrimination exist worldwide, although they manifest themselves differently across countries, communities, religious groups and individuals. Stigma not only makes it more difficult for people trying to come to terms with HIV and manage their illness on a personal level, but it also interferes with attempts to fight the HIV and AIDS epidemic as a whole. On a national level, the stigma associated with HIV can deter governments from taking fast, effective action against the epidemic, whilst on a personal level it can make individuals reluctant to access HIV testing, treatment and care.

AIDS stigma and discrimination exist worldwide, although they manifest themselves differently across countries, communities, religious groups and individuals. They occur along side other forms f stigma and discrimination, such as racism, stigma based on physical appearance, homophobia or misogyny and can be directed those involved in what are considered socially unacceptable activities such as prostitution, and drug use.

AIDS-related stigma and discrimination refers to prejudice, negative attitudes, abuse and maltreatment directed at people living with HIV and AIDS. The consequences of stigma and discrimination are wide -ranging: being shunned by family, peers and the wider community, poor treatment in healthcare and education settings, an erosion of right, psychological damage, and a negative effect on the success of HIV testing and treatment.

Have so much fun on your honeymoon Gillian Morris Colman & Jim Colman !! Live it up and take a lot of pics!! (& if you can get to Anguilla DO IT!). Also so hi to Ft. Lauderdale for me (do I dare admit that I miss it!??!) xx
I have received your letter dated December 14, 2012 and I would like to express my heartfelt satisfaction that the elected Leader of the Opposition has willingly committed himself to working with the Government on responding to the British Government on the basis of the Framework for Fiscal Responsibility (FFR) which he himself said in its present form is not in the best interest of Anguilla’s economic future. By the time your letter was received, my technical staff and I had already sent off our response to the FFR but to date, we have not yet received a response. When we do, said response will be sent to the Leader of the Opposition. We have included our response to the FFR in this correspondence.
Ever since I became Chief Minister on the February 16, 2010, I have been offering an olive branch to the Opposition to work together with the Government as I have done when the Anguilla United Front came to office in 2000. Although it took some time for the Opposition membership in the House to respond to my request for unity, it is very well welcome and will mark a great development in Anguilla’s history. I am full convinced that unity is critical to our development as a people and our survival as a nation.
